But get this… the Superfood I’m about to reveal to you today beats these so called Supefoods by a mile. We’ve all heard how amazing spinach is for iron right? Well, get this. The superfood I took to win my competition has 275% more iron per serving than spinach. Not only that, the iron found in spinach is known as non-heme iron. So What Exactly Is This Superfood?

Scientists are pretty measured people, they aren’t sales people that’s for sure. But for a scientist to say that improvement was obvious… that’s a pretty big deal.

Ok, so now we know it’s not all about green foods. There are other foods out there that can provide massive benefits even though they aren’t grown in the ground or found at sea.

So, what is this superfood I’ve been teasing for the last several minutes. To answer that, let’s go back in time before we wrote anything down. Our ancestors from the beginning of time were a pretty smart bunch.

They knew that in order to feed their family and tribe they had to work together to take down large animals… like wooly mammoths and later elephants and whales in some parts of the world.

That’s what set humans apart from all the other animals. We worked together to hunt and take down large game. In fact, we were so good at it that we literally ate all the Wooly Mammoth’s in the world, which is why they don’t exist anymore.

When we took down the Mammoth and ate him, what do you think we ate? Just the mammoth steak? The filet mignon? Nope, we ate the whole animal head to toe. This is something the Indigenous people of North America continued doing until the modern age took over and we started only eating the tastiest parts of the animal.

The truth is, after a big kill the hunters went straight for one part of the animal first. This was an organ that gave the hunters instant energy because it was jam packed with Vitamin B12, Niacin, Thiamin, Folate, B6, Heme-Iron, and all the essential amino acids which build muscle that protects the body.

What part of the animal are we talking about? Drum roll please…

It’s the liver! And in the world today, the best known liver for humans to eat is beef liver… because we ran out of Wooly Mammoths!

But first, let’s talk a little bit more about what is inside a serving of beef liver and what kind of benefits it can bring you.

When you start regularly consuming the RIGHT beef liver, here’s just a few more of the benefits:

Beef liver contains choline which is essential for brain development. This can help to improve your memory and your cognition, which is your ability to think clearer and faster. In one study of 2,195 participants ages 70-74, those with higher levels of choline had better cognitive abilities.(5)

Another observational study done in 2019 looked at men who had poor working memory. They looked for a root cause by studying their vitamin and mineral levels. It turns out that those men were deficient in three things. Choline, which we’ve already established as super important to brain health, along with Vitamin C and Zinc.

It’s believed that zinc and Vitamin C helps the body to best use choline. And guess what? Liver just happens to have zinc and Vitamin C amongst it’s many nutrients.(6)

Besides memory, beef liver may also lower the risk of stroke. (7) It may also help to boost metabolism and keep us lean. A study of female athletes from 2014 found that those with higher levels of choline had lower BMI and thus were in better health.(8)

And if weight gain is an issue you are worried about… then let’s talk about that for a moment. You see, one of the biggest causes of weight gain is overeating. And the reason we’ve all taken to overeating the last 50 years is because we aren’t getting real, whole food anymore.

Our bodies and brains don’t think in calories. We think in nourishment… we think in vitamins and minerals needed for survival. This mechanism sends hunger signals for us to keep eating until we get what we need, nutritionally speaking.

And if we never get what we need... what happens? We just keep on eating… usually mindlessly because it’s not our minds telling us to eat - it’s our primal instinct of survival.

Did you know that beef liver is probably the best source on earth for Real Vitamin A? What do I mean by that? Well, you’ve probably heard that carrots are a great source of vitamin A right? The truth is that carrots contain beta-carotene which has to be converted into vitamin A by the body.

It’s sort of like buying raw fuel, then having to wait for the body to convert it to usable energy. The issue is, our bodies are TERRIBLE at converting beta-carotene into Vitamin A. So, you end up not getting anywhere near what you think you’re getting.

Beef liver, on the other hand, has True Vitamin A in the form of Retinol. Retinol is what the body ends up converting Beta-Carotene into. So, the real question is… why eat all those carrots to not even get a tiny fraction of the Vitamin A inside just a small serving of beef liver?

The Benefits Of Vitamin A

And what exactly is Vitamin A good for anyway? What does it do for us? Well, Vitamin A is famous for helping with eyesight, but it also helps to build up your immune system. In women, it helps the reproductive system. It helps our organs as well, such as the heart and kidneys. Just a 3.5 ounce slice of beef liver has 634% of the daily recommended amount of Vitamin A. More than that, Vitamin A may hold the key to looking younger as well. You see, vitamin A is important for cell reproduction, including the production of connective tissue. Vitamin A stimulates fibroblasts which helps to produce more collagen. (11) 80% of our skin is made up of collagen and starting in our 20’s, we lose about 1% of our collagen per year. (12)

Some studies have shown that collagen can improve wrinkles and roughness on the skin as well as diminish the signs of aging. And when you get beef liver in your system, you’ll finally get the Vitamin A and therefore the Collagen you may need. (12)

There’s a pretty good chance you’re not getting enough Vitamin A. In fact, according to a study done at the University of Oregon, 43% of adults are deficient in Vitamin A, 66% are deficient in Vitamin K, and a whopping 91% are deficient in choline. In the control group who didn’t receive the amino acids, they actually had a 30% decline in muscle synthesis. Not good! But it gets even crazier! That study showed that amino acids are good at keeping muscle on you - but what about increasing lean body mass?

A May 2009 study from the University of Texas looked at elderly people who may be dealing with sarcopenia, which is the progressive loss of muscle mass and strength over time. This is often due to the aging process.

The study found that treatment with essential amino acids, like those found in beef liver, helped elderly people maintain and even increase their lean muscle mass. Even though they weren’t working out! (3A)

Yet another study showed that the essential amino acids can even help you whether you work out or not. Leucine which is one of the essential amino acids found in beef liver increased the strength of men who didn’t even exercise after just 12 weeks! (4A)

And if that weren’t enough to get you to start eating beef liver, listen to this! A 2009 study took 36 men who had experience working out and split them into 3 groups. One group received amino acids like those found in beef liver, another group received whey protein, and the final group received a sports drink..

Everything else stayed the same during the study. At the end of the 8 week study, the group who took the essential amino acids had remarkable results. They had a greater decrease in body fat percentage, an increase in lean muscle mass, and had strength gains on the bench press and the squat. (5A)

This means that just working out and taking beef liver could help you burn more fat and build more muscle then working out alone.
